Essential fatty acids, also known as Vitamin F, are types of fatty acids that the human body—and most animals—cannot produce on their own, yet they are vital for maintaining health. Omega-3 fatty acids fall into this category, with two of the most valuable types being eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), both commonly found in fish oil.
